Joaquin BACA-ASAY

Born in Berkeley, California. While still a student at NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, he shot the Oscar-nominated short,
The Lady in Waiting, and has been working
as a cinematographer ever since.

His varied feature work includes D.P. credits on
Thumbsucker,We Own the Night and Two Lovers by James Gray.

Joaquin directed his first commercial in 2005, helming a campaign for Silk

Soymilk out of Berlin Cameron. In 2006 he immediately scored a Nike “Defy” and “Endure” campaign out of W+K Amsterdam which established Joaquin as a director to watch.
Since then, he has gone on to direct campaigns for Net10, Nissan, Eurostar Dell.

Joaquin won awards at the AICP, Andy's, Clios and Cannes in 2007 and 2008 for his work on Nike “Defy and Endure”, Net10 and Nissan.
