Tennant
Tennant was founded in 2006 in Johannessburg, South Africa, and is the brainchild of international production company The Ebeling Group (TEG) and award-winning designer/director Hilton Tennant.
Tennant has been making his creative mark both in South Africa and around the world for almost a decade. In addition to serving as Founder and Creative Director of Tennant along with TEG’s Mick Ebeling, Tennant has been running the Johannesburg-based design firm Tennant McKay since 2002.
Prior to founding Tennant McKay, Tennant worked as the Design Director for new media company Delapse, where he was responsible for designing and creating title sequences for iconic South African TV programs such as “Egoli,” “Isidingo,” “Carte Blanche” and “Top Billing.” It was at Delapse where he established himself as one of Africa’s leading animators and motion graphics artists, winning the first Gold BDA ever awarded to a South African for a network branding campaign for SABC. In addition, Tennant has also won several Loerie and Avanti awards for projects ranging from the first interactive digital magazine in South Africa to major network broadcast design campaigns.
Tennant graduated from the University of Pretoria with an honors degree in Information Design in 1998. His work has appeared in a number of publications focusing on the rising South African design scene, and he has been a judge in the digital media category of the Loeries. In 2006, his short film “The Little Battle” was selected to be included in the “Face Value” program of international digital film festival onedotzero
